Happy Easter!

 photo DSC_0146.jpg

Hi lovelies, just stopping by to wish you all happy easter! I hope you are having an amazing time with lots of good food and easter chocolate - haha I know I am! I will never get too old to make my parents buy me a giant easter egg ;)

During easter I always go to stay with my family and I don't worry too much about eating healthy, but I do like to make sure I get some proper nutrients in between all the chocolate eating ;) A great way to do so is by drinking smoothies, they're so easy to make and jam-packed with nutrients. This smoothie is actually secretly a green smoothie as I added spinach, but the color from the berries overpowers the green - if you're still not onboard with green smoothies this might be a great way to start, I promise you won't taste the spinach!

Simply blend 2 handfuls spinach, 1 large banana, 1.5 cup mixed frozen berries, 1 tablespoon chia seeds, 2 tablespoons skyr/greek yoghurt, 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla powder, a little sweetener (I used honey) and about 1 cup water - enjoy!

Green juice for beginners

 photo foto1.jpg

I am still a newbie when it comes to green juices and to be honest I was not a big fan at first, but today I found a combo that I really like so I see lots of green juices in my future! My plan is to slowly up the greens and maybe reduce the amount of fruit once my tastebuds have adjusted, but for now I will stick with this tasty combo.

Ingredients:
2 stalks of celery
Half a cucumber
4 cups of spinach
1 apple
1 orange
1 lemon
A thumb of ginger

Directions:
  1. Just run it all through a juicer – if you do not have a juicer it is possible to do this with a blender and a nut milk cloth (or cheesecloth or something similar) to strain the pulp. My juicer is not good with leafy greens so I actually blend them in -  yes it is a bit of a process, but I definitely think it is worth it.
  2. I prefer to drink right away in order to preserve all the nutrients, enjoy!

Tropical green smoothie

 photo c7459068-f96e-4f8e-ac9b-26f92d91ac88.jpg

This is the perfect “beginner” smoothie for those who are sceptical when it comes to green smoothies. The pineapple and lime masks the spinach flavour and gives the smoothie a nice tropical taste, I have yet to encounter a person who didn’t enjoy this even though they previously thought of green smoothies as something gross. Haha and once you have them hooked on green smoothies you can always start adding more green goodies like kale and maybe even some green superfoods.

Ingredients:
3 cups spinach
2 (frozen) bananas
1 cup pineapple
The juice of 1 lime
Water to blend

I like to add 1 tbsp. Vitamineral Green or 1 tbsp. hemp proteinpowder + 1 tbsp. chia seeds, but this is completely optional and not needed for this recipe – I have a post on the benefits of these super foods coming up.

Directions:

Just blend it all together and enjoy!
